Video Clip - Grapevine Trunk Diseases #2 - How to prevent the infection

All the information you need to know to prevent an infection by the GTDs pathogens

The pathogens that cause the grapevine trunk diseases are considered to be wound pathogens and generally they can infect the vine whenever there is an open wound. Knowing this is possible to prevent, or at least to reduce, the infections using the following prophylactic measures:

  • Composting or burning the pruning residuals
  • Pruning timing
  • Pruning respecting the sap flux

Is also possible to protect the pruning wounds, either with mastic or with a biocontrol agent such as Trichoderma.
