Flavescence dorée is one of the most devastating quarantine diseases in European vineyards, its causal agent is the Grapevine flavescence dorée phytoplasma. Its leafhopper vector (Scaphoideus titanus) was first reported in Hungary in 2006, since then it has been widely spreaded in all the Hungarian regions. During the official survey of the pest, FD phytoplasma was identified by using molecular methods from samples showing phytoplasma symptoms collected in Zala county (Lenti district). The amino acid sequence showed 100% homology with a Slovenian FD-D isolate. Based on the Slovenian border vicinity and sequence data we suppose that the FD infection was transmitted by leafhopper vectors from Slovenia.
